Valparaiso (Chile)

Valparaiso ist Chiles bunter Farbkasten. Kaum ein Haus oder eine der unzähligen versteckten Treppen ist nicht in bunte Streetart Kunst gehüllt. Nicht nur die Augen, sondern auch die Beinmuskulatur werden beim Herumspazieren durch die steilen Gassen und Treppen gefordert. Die Stadt ist wie ein Labyrinth auf vielen Hügeln angelegt und alle Straßenkarten weichen voneinander ab… (Es heißt, die Stadt ist so komplex aufgebaut, dass keine hundertprozentig genaue Karte dieser Stadt existiert.) Ans Ziel kommt man stets nur nach Umwegen und vielen Höhenmetern. Zum Glück finden sich an mehreren Stellen Aufzüge, die es ermöglichen, ein paar anstrengende Aufstiege über lange und steile Treppe zu umgehen. Neben viel Handwerkskunst in den Gassen wird man in jedem Winkel von lauter Musik umhüllt. So ist es auch kein fremdes Bild, wenn mitten auf der Straßenkreuzung ein komplettes Jazzorchester spielt…

Valparaiso is Chile’s colorful paint box. Nearly every house or one of the countless hidden stairs is wrapped in colorful street art. Not only the eyes, but also the leg muscles are challenged when walking through the steep alleys and stairs. The city is laid out like a labyrinth on many hills and all road maps differ from one another … (It is said that the city is so complex that there is no one hundred percent exact map of this city.) You always only get to your destination after detours and many meters in altitude. Fortunately, there are elevators in several places that make it possible to bypass a few strenuous climbs up long and steep stairs.
